Location

Ethos Hotel Oxford is located in a quiet location within a few minutes walk to the city centre, with its historic pubs, bistros and restaurants that feature a variety of settings and styles to suit any pocket.

Ethos Hotel is perfectly situated to give guests of all ages easy access to Oxford’s beauty. Just a few metres from Grandpont Nature Park, South Oxford Adventure Playground, the Green Flag Award-winning Hinksey Park and the Thames Path National Trail, the hotel can provide maps and directions for walks along the river.  The River is an important part of university life, particularly in the summer term. The Oxford University Boat Race crew train here in the winter, in the summer, the less serious and more spectacular Summer Eights take place. A few metres from the hotel is a public footbridge across the River Thames to Westgate Shopping Centre.

Known as the City of Dreaming Spires, Oxford is famous the world over for its university and place in history. It is now one of the most dynamic and cosmopolitan cities in Europe. With its mix of ancient and modern, Oxford offers something for everyone from visiting historic buildings, colleges and museums, to taking in a show or shopping 'til you drop. There are walking tours of the colleges, and the open top buses go on a continual loop round the city. On the River Cherwell, which joins the Thames at the boat houses, you can rent a punt and try your hand at poling up the picturesque narrow river, perhaps reaching a pub for a little refreshment!

Oxford is is the closest city to London and is centrally located in England, close to the Cotswolds, making it an ideal base for exploring the country. The Cotswolds stretch from Stratford upon Avon in the north to Bath in the south. From Gloucester in the west to Oxford in the east, the rolling hills are full of story book English villages. Then you can add Shakespeare at Stratford upon Avon, the dreaming spires and colleges at Oxford and the Georgian city of Bath. There is something different to do every day.

Woodstock - Famous for Blenheim Palace and Winston Churchill's grave, the village itself also has a lot of charm.

Stratford upon Avon - The birthplace of William Shakespeare and the home of the Shakespeare Theatre.

Chipping Campden - Perhaps the nicest of the Cotswold villages, as it is relatively unspoiled by the weight of modern tourism.

Stow on the World - A busy small town, with a charming square and a range of shops.

The Slaughters - The Cotswolds encapsulated, Upper and Lower Slaughter, with their manor houses and honey stone cottages.

Burford - The town has a steep main street, with lots of antique shops, which runs down to the river and the ancient bridge.

Cirencester - The town has evolved from a Roman garrison town to a charming, well preserved market town.

Bath - The Roman spa and the Georgian houses are the blend that attract tourists from all over the world.
